Get to Know the CRäKN Team: Meet Zach Smart

Sit down with Zach Smart, and you’ll immediately be impressed with his passion about all things related to funeral service.
As a Key Account Representative, Zach’s background includes time at Service Corporate International (SCI). There, he was a Family Service Counselor. At first, it was outside of his comfort zone, but over time, he learned it was the perfect role for him in that time period. “In 2016, I surprised myself when I joined SCI as a Family Service Counselor…It didn’t take long [in working there] for me to realize why life brought me to SCI,” he says.
Looking back, Zach shares how the experience was extremely gratifying. “Helping families during a very difficult time was—and still is—very rewarding, though now I get to do so on a broader scale, indirectly, by making sure our customers are given the proper tools to provide excellent service to their families,” he explains.

Q: Can you share more about your role on the CRäKN team?
As an onboarding specialist, I have the privilege of working with both the development and customer success teams. To sum up what I do, I help in setting up customer accounts before they get to ‘CRaKN’!
Q: What’s a phrase that best describes you?
Adaptable and/or open-minded. The world is continuously creating new methods of how to do certain tasks, making new inventions or developing different ways to perceive ideas. Though I believe it’s important to maintain your core values, it’s equally important to continue to grow and adapt to the ever-changing world. One could argue that is a similar mindset to the one our company has, too—that is, the importance of continually adapting, learning, and evolving.
Q: CRäKN is helping to make work more streamlined and simple for funeral directors. What are the tools you are using right now that help you simplify your life?
I definitely would say my phone calendar makes my personal life, as well as work, so much easier. From doctor appointments to life events to work meetings, the calendar helps me keep track of what is going on day-to-day and plan ahead effectively.
Q: What’s something that might surprise CRäKN clients to learn about you?
Remember the game you used to play in elementary school with a bouncy red ball on a baseball field? For the last four years, I have played in a kickball league. Though it seems a bit silly, it’s a lot of fun!
Q: Last question: What are you most looking forward to in the coming months?
There are SO many things to look forward to in the coming months! Though CRäKN is definitely an amazing product as is, we are constantly improving thanks to our awesome team and customer feedback.
